TRD Dance Merger

Todd Rosenlieb Dance is known for modern and unique styles of dance. The Virginia Ballet is notoriously classic in nature. What do these two professional dance companies have in common? They are merging to bring high-quality dance productions at a great rate to the Hampton Roads' region.

MINDS WIDE OPEN: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts

This project is an example of collaboration at it's best. All across Virginia organizations are signing up to participate in this first ever event celebrating women in the arts. For more information click here.

Member Highlight: Virginia Theatre Machine

The Virginia Theatre Machine, one of our newest members, is a technically equipped mobile stage prepared to transport highly engaging and innovative professional theater to audiences. The stage is an 8'x 8' trailer with full performance capabilities. This method of presentation brings theater to local schools, beaches, parking lots and neighborhood backyards.

The Virginia Theatre Machine is under the direction of Mark J. Lerman of Williamsburg, VA and designed and fabricated by Jeremy Woodward of Providence, RI.

Advice from Keith Martin

Why Collaborate?
Eight Good Reasons

  • To accomplish your organization's mission. (This is really the only reason. The others below all flow from this one.)
  • To speak with a united voice for changes your organization sees as important.
  • To strengthen ties with groups that have missions related to yours but that use a different strategy to achieve that mission, or focus on a different population or location.
  • To achieve an important goal that you organization cannot do alone.
  • To avoid duplication of effort in the community.
  • To save time and/or money.
  • To learn about other approaches and resources.
  • To give help and get help.
And Two Good Reasons Not To:
  • It does not fit your mission and priorities. You have to be true to your nonprofit organization's mission.
  • You will not take the time needed to build trust and the relationship.Collaboration takes time. You have to build trust and establish explicit ways you will work together.
